It is an autoimmune disorder that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin sheath, which is the protective coating that surrounds nerve fibers. This results in a disruption of nerve impulses and leads to a wide range of symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness, vision problems, balance issues, and cognitive impairment.
In short MS could be described as a disease of inflammation. Inflation being the immune response to an infection. So, the immune system simply doesn't stop working when the infection is dealt with.
While there is no known cure for MS, there are various treatments that can help manage the symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. One of the complementary and alternative therapies that people with MS may turn to is herbal medicine. I have embarked on a body building journey this year hand have noticed some improvement in symptoms as I have gained more muscle mass. Exercise should be performed under the guidance of an experienced professional to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for you and your circumstances.
Bodywork: Bodywork can help improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, and improve overall relaxation in people with MS. Some bodywork modalities that may be beneficial for people with MS include massage therapy, and acupuncture. It is important to consult with a licensed practitioner of the chosen bodywork modality to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for the individual.
